Veterans Treatment Court encompasses a diverse team made up of many different professionals and volunteers from our community to provide a comprehensive plan tailored to each individual's needs.
Judge Carrie Lynn Fuca
Chief Judge 41B District Court
First elected as a 41B District Court Judge in 2010, Judge Fuca actually founded the Veterans Treatment Program the following year. In 2016, she was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to be the 41B District Court Chief Judge. Judge Fuca is perhaps our most passionate advocate for the VTC mission, its participants, and the team that makes it work.
Kara Hartman
Specialty Court Coordinator
As the Specialty Court Coordinator, Kara is the main point-of-contact and is always there to answer any program-related questions or concerns that Veterans may have. She ensures that each Veteran's experience in the program is positive and helpful while linking Veterans to the programs and services they need. Kara handles all the grant writing for the VTC program.
Kim Silvestro
Case Manager
Kim has over 30 years of experience working in the court system. She provides many services to our Veterans, including new participant orientation and monthly individual meetings. Kim assists in helping Veterans establish short and long term goals, ensures that program requirements are being met, and links our participants to a variety of ancillary services. Kim is also our special projects manager overseeing The Recovery Shop and our Caring Closet.
Jennifer Chupa
Defense Attorney
Jennifer also serves on the 16th Circuit DWI Court. She was previously the Defense Attorney to the 37th District Court Adult Felony Treatment Court from 2000 until April of 2022. Treatment Courts have been a passion of Jennifer's for many years. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Public Affairs, and from Wayne State University Law School in 1998. Jennifer Chupa represents all VTC participants should they face sanctions before the judge. Her passion lies in criminal defense and non-profit work.
Francesco Sorrentino
Probation Officer
Francesco graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He serves as a 41B District Court Probation Officer and Veterans Treatment Court Probation Officer. Francesco’s role at VTC involves close monitoring of participants, ensuring compliance
with court ordered requirements, and assists with participants successful reintegration into the community.
Catherine Castle
Licensed Therapist
Catherine received a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan. She is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) with years of experience working with the problem-solving courts.
Her goal is to create a safe space for clients to share their experiences while providing psychoeducation to learn new skills to enhance their future.
Korrin Krieg
Drug and Alcohol Testing Agent
As the Director of Operations for TAP Testing and Prevention Center, Korrin has over a decade of experience in the field of substance abuse testing, prevention and education. Korrin enjoys working with the Veteran’s Treatment Court and is available to answer any questions participants may have to assist them in being successful in the program.
Daniel Cuschieri
Veterans Justice
Outreach Coordinator
Daniel provides clinical services for veterans who are within 6 months of release from correctional institutions and/or are being monitored by the courts, including treatment or problem-solving courts. He functions as an ongoing case manager for justice-involved Veterans who are being monitored by treatment courts by coordinating mental health and community care; collaborates with county probation officers, prosecutors, public defenders, retained defense counsel, and parole officers as appropriate to develop a post-release plan and/or communitybased alternatives to incarceration.
Darryle Johnson
Macomb County Veterans Services
Retired Marine Master Sergeant Darryle Johnson has more than 40 years of Federal and local government service. Darryle deployed twice during his 25-year USMC career. Among his awards are the Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
Darryle worked on Selfridge Air National Guard Base as a Family Readiness Officer providing deployment support to more than 8700 Military Members and families in 9 States until 2018. He then assumed the duties of Veteran Service Officer with Macomb County Veteran Services providing support to more than 40,000 County Veterans and assisting them in obtaining much deserved Va Benefits.
Anthony Mattarella
Peer Recovery Coach
Anthony is a certified peer recovery coach and an addiction consultant. His role is to work with the specialty court participants on finding a pathway of recovery that fits for them whether it may be Smart Recovery, NA, AA, Refuge Recovery, or Celebrate Recovery. He also helps participants set goals and help guide them toward achieving their goals. "My goal is to improve the quality of life for all participants on their journey towards recovery."
Amy Brune
Peer Recovery Coach
Amy promotes recovery and removes barriers and obstacles to recovery, serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery. Amy helps Participants navigate program requirements by meeting needs with community resources.

Rodney Wolford
Peer Recovery Coach
Rodney has been doing recovery work and building resilience in his community for 36 years. He believes there are multiple pathways to recovery. He has been working with specialty courts since 2014. Rodney himself is a person in recovery since March 22, 1989. Rodney’s goal is to help stop the human suffering related to substance abuse. He understands firsthand the criminal justice system and the challenges of addiction. Rodney is an invaluable life coach to those dealing with all the challenges stemming from drug and alcohol misuse. Rodney believes that “changing your thoughts will change your life”.
Joseph Fix
Law Enforcement Rep.
Joseph is an active-duty Clinton Township Police Lieutenant and serves as the law enforcement representative on the VTC Team. Being an Army Veteran and a former mentor with VTC, he also acts as a liaision between the mentor program and the court team.
